For decades, we have witnessed an increasingly high incidence of serious Staphylococcus aureus skin, soft tissue infections, and bacteremia in healthcare and community settings. Approximately 20% of the population’s nasal cavities are persistently colonized, and an additional 60% are intermittently colonized, with S. aureus (Kluytmans et al., 1997); prior stay in a hospital or chronic care facility and previous antibiotic exposure represent essential risk factors for acquisition.
I2’s Nasal Decolonization product creates an environment inside the nasal cavity, whereas the free iodine can kill pathogens on contact while leaving healthy tissue unharmed. Our formulation of iodine can be used to destroy pathogens in, on, and above the skin and surfaces.
